Peter Thomson is a freelance business and marine consultant based in Bambury, UK.  For the past two years he has been working mostly with Kalashnikov USA in Florida -The exclusive importers of Saiga hunting and sporting products.

Born in St. Albans, 20 miles North of London, during the blitz where his earliest memories are of searchlights seeking Nazi bombers in the night sky and  the crimson horizon as London burned.

He entered the British Merchant Marine on leaving school in 1957 as a Deck Boy and left in April 1999 as Captain of a Very large Crude Carrier.

Peter's career has been varied. His main occupation has been sea-faring - or an association with commercial ships and the sea. he became captain in 1977 and continued thereafter as a freelance officer and consultant until the present day.

Several notable gaps occurred in this record of service. Peter served for 6 years in the British Army seeing service in the conflicts of Malaya, Borneo and Cyprus. He served also in Berlin as part of the occupation
and protection forces when 'The Wall' was intact.

His business career began after leaving the Army when he worked for Bernard Cornfeld in his Investor's Overseas Company and returned to sea-duty in the Merchant Marine when that company ceased trading.

Work takes up most of his time. He has formed a company in UK - Indian River (UK) Ltd. which imports and distributes Izhmash and other Russian products in UK and Europe and anywhere else thatmight want them. This is run as  a family business.

Peter enjoys the outdoors and is a keen walker and countryman. He has little use for television outside of the Discovery and History channels and spends his evenings in writing and correspondence.

Peter is a 'people person' and hates injustice of any kind - especially where it upsets rights and practices for political or obscure reasons.  He has taken a deep interest in gun issues while living in the USA and has actively supported sensible and reasonable measures to preserve the 2nd Amendment.  The threat to the 2nd Amendment leads to threats on other amendments it is the possible erosion of Constitutional rights that has led to his writing 'Mahoney'.  The source of this being the speeches and articles reported in the recent daily press and on the Internet.  Peter lives with his wife in the old market town of Banbury on the edge of the Cotswold Hills.

He makes this observation about the USA:

'Most Americans do not know what they have here in this great country. They don't know therefore what
they have to lose when their rights are threatened. The present threat to the 2nd Amendment, is not about guns at all - it goes deeper than that - it's about freedom of the individual. If you lose the 2nd Amendment in its present from the 4th Amendment will be next to go then the 1st and the 5th.  People should ask some deep questions about these issues and-if they are responsible persons-act on them.  Every responsible gun-owner should be a member of the NRA. If not, then join today.  That's all you have to do to help stop the rot at this time. It's irresponsible not to'

I'm one of the kids that Americans fought and died for in WW2 so we could have freedom in Europe. My thanks are engraved on my heart - nothing I can say or do can expiate my debt of gratitude.  Freedom is the only climate where life is worth living. We should all guard- at all times- against those who would remove it.

May my God Bless You
