While filling out my F7R, I see it requests your SSN. It also says you will be delayed if you don't completely fill the form out. In the itsy bitsy print at the bottom, the instruction form states, Oh by the way because of the 1974 privacy act section 7b, "Disclosure of the individual's social security number is voluntary." I am scared as hell to give ANYONE my SSN with the widespread identity theft out there. This info is available to the public in certain circumstances as well. Because of this, I don't want to give it. Has anyone else not provided this and had any problems getting their C&R license? (Sorry for the long winded question)

I don't know about on the C&R application, but I know that when you buy through an "01" FFL, they make a big deal of it (the dealers, that is). In the first breath they tell you that it's "optional", and in the second they're telling you that you might be delayed if you don't give an SSN. I only gave once, because I had ordered and paid for an item, and the dealer refused to call in unless I gave it. He said someone else refused, and the operator told him it would be delayed because of that. I've never had a problem before or after with NOT giving it. Just my .02
