Hi Gunman41782,

A C&R confirms that you are a serious collector and simplifies collecting.

Follow the rules, keep good records in case anyone needs to see them and enjoy a high level of collecting. Benefits outweigh any possible inconvenience. I save time and money every C&R purchase. If you're a serious collector you need a C&R. The more of us out there the better.

Yes, the government is too intrusive for my tastes. But for all practical purposes, interstate movements of firearms (except perhaps true antiques)is logged by either a C&R or other FFL holder. It doesn't make much difference from an "intrusion" perspective if you're the holder or someone else because if you have to go through an 01 FFL your name and etc. shows up on every transaction anyway. The C&R is going to save you cash dollars out of your pocket in NIC type checks on every C&R purchase. That will pay for your license in one or maybe two transactions and the net result is that there will be one less govt. transaction on the gun if you eliminate the 01 FFL from the transaction. But the best advantage is that you can deal directly with SOG, IO, AIM, etc. and they will ship directly to you. In my opinion that outweighs ANY perceived disadvantages.
