Greetings all,
I have a question for any of the Large Bore fans out there. My M2 has developed a sporadic misfire problem. This is an old Marine Corp model, which has seen quite a bit of use (as my local quarry could attest to) but always gets new parts before the old wear out, with the dual handles, plunger-style trigger, vented barrel shroud but all factory parts. I haven't had any smithing done to it and always feed it good stuff. The belt links are all in great shape and the feed mechanism seems to be working properly. There is no undue play in the action, the charging handle is relatively smooth acting and I am at my wits end. What happens is Ma Deuce will run fine for 5-10 bursts (I never drive her too hard) and then just drop a round. When I cycle the action, there's no round in the chamber, but the feed mechanism is completely intact and still engaging the belt. The bolt closes like it has ammo, but it's a dry chamber. It seems almost like the mechanism just fails to load. I have torn her all the way down to bits and pieces, mic'ed and measured everything and she still has the same issues. Headspace is correct (most often discovered problem in M2's) and everything else seems OK too. I need help. I even had her out at Ft. Sill a few weeks back, and imagine my chagrin when she dropped one on the firing line!
