Does anyone know if the albanian sks has a chrome lined barrel? And is there a benefit, someone told me the yugo's didn't have a chrome lined barrel and seemed to think this was a bad thing.

The advantage is that you get less corrosion,an important factor as almost all the ammo is slightly corrosive and berdan primed which is why I think you'll find ALL sks 's will be chrome bored. This is easy to check if you own a bore light. If it's REALLY shiny compared to what you are used to with surplus arms ,it's chromed!

For what it's worth, there is a simple test to determine whether your gun has a chrome-lined bore: Put a drop of cold blue on the bore metal. A chrome-lined bore won't take the bluing, but a carbon steel bore will.

It seems that neither albanian sks or yugo have chrome lined bores. The latest issue of gun tests reviews both.

Good to know,I've had one or maybe two russian, and three chinese, they were all good, all chrome bores for quality,I'd give the nod to the Russians, but only just by a little.

The Yugo is the only one without a chrome lined barrel due to lack of resources in that area. Zvtxguy is incorrect about the Albanian, which does in fact have a chrome lined barrel.
